Due To Arrive 08/10/09
The Gosh! Authority 30/09/09
One of our top picks this week is Gilbert Shelton’s Fat Freddy’s Cat Omnibus which collects all the strips about that other famous, non-lasagne eating ginger tom. Like many things he began as a footnote to something else and soon became deservedly famous in his own right. In this latest omnibus (which fits perfectly with the Freak Brothers Omnibus design-wise) the orange Cat can be found sleeping on Fat Freddy’s head, battling endless armies of roaches, travelling to Mexico, saving the world from an alien invasion and (of course) the Hee Hee Hee drug. If you were one of the many people who asked for more Freak Brothers you’ll need to swing by the shop tout de suite.
In other news, Alan Moore has some thoughts on pornography that will probably sit very well on the bookshelf next to that well-thumbed copy of Lost Girls. If you managed to grab a copy of the long sold out issue of Arthur magazine you’ll have read them before in that brilliantly titled essay of his, Bog Venus Versus Nazi Cock-Ring: Some Thoughts Concerning Pornography. This book I’m foisting on you is called 25, 000 Years of Erotic Freedom HC and it’s an extended version of that very essay now beefed up with relevant illustrations, photographs, and frontbottoms. In a 1000 word excerpt on CbR Moore argues that “Sexually progressive cultures gave us literature, philosophy, civilisation and the rest, while sexually restrictive cultures gave us the Dark Ages and the Holocaust.” And he’s probably right. The big hairy one tends to be terribly convincing, anyway. At his Gosh! signing he almost had me agreeing that custard creams are the lesser, anaemic cousin to bourbons.
Mike Mignola’s Hellboy Library Ed HC Volume 3 collects three classic stories in a big black book including the award-winning Conqueror Worm in which Hellboy has his first run-in with fan-favourite Lobster Johnson. And just to make sure you get your £37.50’s worth, there’s an extra thirty pages of never-before-seen sketchbook stuff. Preview!
Lords of Misrule HC reprints classic (word of the day, obviously) stuff by Dan Abnett, John Tomlinson, Steve White, Gary Erskine, and Peter Snejbjerg for the first time in full colour with a bunch of other previously uncollected pages – so it’s not just for those of you who missed it the first time round. If you did, here’s what happens: After two friends are horribly murdered near a rural English town the survivors discover a longstanding history of grim doings in the village. Sure to appeal to the 10 or so fans who loved Abnett and Tomlinson’s original Knights of Pendragon. It feels like it exists in the same universe as that fondly remembered series, although of course it doesn’t as that was set in Marvel Universe (sort of), but eagle eyed fans might notice that Lords of Misrule is actually set in the same universe as the popular Aussie soap Neighbours. Answers on a postcard….
Another big hardcover that arrived midweek is Masterpiece Comics by R. Sikyorak (The New Yorker, The Onion, Mad), a Drawn & Quarterly collection of parodies of classic literature full of the superfluous exclamation marks, cartoon colours and the general nuttiness of old comics. See good ol’ Charlie Brown become Gregor Samsa in Kafka’s Metemorphosis whose social unease is probably just right for the miserable cockroach hiding in his bedroom. In the meantime, see a preview.
Ed Brubaker (Criminal) and Sean Phillips’ (Incognito) final collection of Sleeper is out this week collecting the full second year of the acclaimed series plus a never-before-collected prequel. There’s also the second block of Gerard Way and Gabriel Ba’s Umbrella Academy to look forward to in a trade collection of Dallas. Alternatively, there’s always the lovely big hardcover edition that came out last week if you prefer that.
Superman: Kryptonite TP collects the amazing Superman-meets-Kryptonite–for-the-first-time story by Gosh! Favourites Darwyn Cooke (Parker: The Hunter, DC: The New Frontier) and Tim Sale (Batman: The Long Halloween) in their first project together. Everything these guys do is brill and we always say so, ipso facto there’s really no need for me to harp on about it. I’ll let this man do it. He says it’s glorious. In fact, he says the word glorious several times.
If you’re a fan of Hergé’s Tin Tin there’s a new book on the shelf by Garen Ewing that’s likely to catch your eye. The Adventures of Julius Chancer: The Rainbow Orchid Volume 1 is drawn in much the style with a pink-cheeked hero on an international adventure. There’s no shortage of mystery and intrigue here so check out the artwork in this ‘ere preview if it sounds like your cup of tea.
That’s it for another week. Don’t forget we’ve got the Joe Sacco signing today from 5pm until 7pm!

The Gosh! Authority 23/09/09
Now that we’ve given you sufficient time to locate your diaries and scribble Joe Sacco Signing in the September 30 square we’re gonna hit you with another! Bryan Talbot will be signing stuff here at Gosh! in the usual place on the 10th of October, and the usual suspects will be manning the till and kettle. We’ll have early copies of his new steampunk graphic novel Grandville thanks to Jonathan Cape, so you’ll be able to get your mitts on a copy of the new’un and get it signed by the man himself all in one fell swoop. All necessary details are over in this post here.
And now onto the more immediate new’uns.
First up is an odd indie book called 3 Story: The Secret History of the Giant Man HC by Matt Kindt, a Harvey and Eisner award nominated illustrator whose Pistolwhip was in Time’s Top 10 Graphic Novels in 2001. 3 Story is a book about Craig Pressgang, a man with a strange medical condition which causes continuous growth. By the time he was 15 he was three storeys tall and one of the most famous people on the planet. The book follows him from his birth to the present when he is unable to interact with a world that’s too small for him, all told in three eras by three women. The art’s lovely as you can see in this preview and over at Kindt’s blog there’s a link to a free online short story that ties into the very book I’m talking about. A freebie taster like at Baskin Robbins.
The long-delayed Will Eisner’s The Spirit: The New Adventures Archives Volume 1 HC has finally arrived on our doormat. In 1997, Eisner gave permission for some of the best names in the industry to resurrect the resurrected Denny Colt in a new series of stories. Everyone’s in it including Alan Moore and Dave Gibbons in a rare post-Watchmen collaboration, Paul Chadwick (Concrete), and Neil Gaiman teams up with Eddie Campbell (From Hell, Alec) in a 10-page story that he’s talked about on his blog here and there. Campbell’s got another story in there too and will no doubt be flipping frantically through the book to see if Dark Horse have fixed the computer-related ‘colour boob’ in which he made the Spirit green. “It looked blue on my monitor,” says he.
The Spirit TP Volume 2 is also full of big names doing Spirit stuff, collecting issues #7-13 of the current ongoing series. There’s Darwyn Cooke (Parker, The New Frontier) Walter Simonson (Wednesday Comics), Kyle Baker (Nat Turner, Why I Hate Saturn), Gail Simone (Wonder Woman), Dennis O’Neil, Glen David Gold, Chris Sprouse, Eduardo Risso (100 Bullets), Phil Hester, Ty Templeton and more. Great stuff and definitely worth your time.Sulk Volume 3: King of Strength Comes From Madness is one for all you Jeffrey Brown fans. In it you’ll find stuff about fantasy and science fiction, robot best friends, pirates, time travelling babies, martial arts masterminds, and something called Being Awesome is its Own Reward. If you missed the first two volumes of Sulk you can find them in the shop nestled next to Brown’s Clumsy and Unlikely.
The last of this week’s big books is Umbrella Academy Volume 2: Dallas, the very limited oversized deluxe hardcover variety. Gerard Way and Gabriel Ba’s (Pixu, De:TALES, Casanova) New York Times Bestselling series had a few sceptical staff-members finding themselves becoming unlikely fans of the series and recommending it to just about everyone who walked in the door (probably even you, which makes this sentence somewhat superfluous). This edition features an expanded sketchbook section with concept art by both Way and Ba. Dark Horse have a preview here if you missed the series.
Here’s a couple of #1s that I predict will be mighty popular. The Eisner award winning duo Brian Michael Bendis and Alex Maleev team up again for Spider-Woman #1, the first of a brand-spanking-new ongoing series which spins out of New Avengers and the whole Secret Invasion thing.
“[S.W.O.R.D. is] more intergalactic while this is more Earth-bound. What's interesting about Spider-Woman and S.W.O.R.D. is how different in tone they'll be. This is much more gritty and nourish [noir-ish? – Hayley], almost like Alias and my other work with crime comics,” says Bendis.
Superman: Secret Origin #1 (of 6) sees superstar team Geoff Johns and Gary Frank reunite to set the record straight on the origin of Superman, promising to be a look at the mythic past with an eye toward the future. If you’re wondering why we need yet another origin story, here’s what Johns has to say:
“To me, origin stories - particularly "Secret Origin" stories in the DC Comics universe - are vital to the introduction of characters and mythology to the larger audience, and I think they can be to the long time audience as well. We haven't seen a modern day retelling of Clark's first adventure as Superboy with the Legion of Super-Heroes, or the day Superman met Jimmy Olsen or the origins of Superman's long time enemies like the Parasite and Metallo. More importantly, Clark Kent himself will be explored in his earlier years in a way I don't think he's ever been explored before. And freaking Gary Frank, one of the greatest Superman artists in history already, is illustrating it. Every cover, every panel, every line….. I can only say, unlike previous Superman origin stories, this will be told almost entirely from Clark's eyes. We won't be spending an issue on Krypton. We'll be opening on one of Clark's earliest memories as a kid and moving forward from there. This is his story of self-discovery and the world's story of meeting Superman.”
Here’s a preview of this week’s 48-page issue.
If you’re one of the many who’ve been waiting for Mark Millar and Steve McNiven’s Wolverine Giant-Size Old Man Logan you’d best get to the shop quick smart because it’s here! It’s the gory, ultraviolent last chapter to the Mad Max-y Wolverine story Millar wants to be remembered for, complete with a gallery of covers, behind-the-scenes extras, and all-new pin-ups. Preview.
Bart Simpson’s Treehouse of Horror #15 is guest-edited by Sammy Harkham of Kramers Ergot fame and he’s roped in almost everyone he knows thus making it the weirdest take on the Simpsons universe to date. In it you’ll find Halloweeny strips by Jordan Crane (Uptight), C.F. (Powr Mastrs), Will Sweeney (Tales from Greenfuzz), Tim Hensley (MOME), John Kerschbaum (Petey & Pussy), Kevin Huizenga (Ganges, Or Else) Matthew Thurber (1-800 Mice, Kramers Ergot), Jeffrey Brown (him again), and loads of others. It’s probably going to be talked about everywhere (Heidi McDonald at The Beat’s very excited about it) so it’s definitely one to add to your swag.
Last bit: The very last Wednesday Comics is out this Thursday! Given that it’s our job to think about such things, we’ve organised it so we’ve got ALL TWELVE ISSUES on the shelf so you can grab ‘em all at once. If you haven’t been paying attention, here’s what you’ll be looking for.
And that’s yer lot.

Bryan Talbot signing at Gosh! Saturday 10th October
The second Autumnal signing here at Gosh! Comics is none other than Bryan Talbot!
Last seen at Gosh! in 2007 signing a mountain of Alice in Sunderland, Talbot is an award winning creator who began in the underground comix scene in the late 60s. A decade later came influential steampunk tale The Adventures of Luther Arkwright, followed by high profile work for 2000AD and many of DC/Vertigo’s top selling titles. The Tale of One Bad Rat won him an Eisner-award in 1996, and his 2007 graphic novel Alice in Sunderland still flies off the shelf here at Gosh!
We (and you, no doubt) are hotly anticipating Grandville, his return to world of steampunk. We’re excited to announce that the publisher, Jonathan Cape, are kindly supplying us with a pre-release of the book for this signing on Saturday the 10th of October, from 2-4pm. Can’t wait? Here's the trailer:

If DC’s Absolute Editions are your thing you’re going to have one hell of a trip home after you get your mince pies on these:
Neil Gaiman’s popular Death spin-off stuff was originally going to be collected in a deluxe hardcover called Compleat Death because that’s what they’d been calling it for the last ten years. But after a rethink and some helpful prodding from Gaiman and his fans DC decided to release it as an Absolute Edition to fit nicely with the other four Sandman volumes on your creaking bookshelves. Beneath its slipcased, fancy hardcover you’ll find Death: The High Cost of Living (now completely relettered by Todd Klein) and Death: The Time of Your Life, both illustrated by Chris Bachalo and the lovely Mark Buckingham. There’s also the Death Talks About Life AIDS pamphlet, and a whole bunch of other bits and bobs you can read about at the DC website. Providing the intro is Gaiman’s ukulele-wielding girlfriend Amanda Palmer who recently starred alongside the brilliant Bill Nighy in his short film which you can see on the telly some time around Christmas.
Alan Moore’s Promethea is also getting the Absolute treatment, finally. This is the first of three oversized volumes and collects the first twelve issues all illustrated by the spectacular J.H. Williams III. He’s also got a Flickr photostream by the way, full of Promethea art and other stuff you’ll want to see, right click, save. Tom Strong – another Big Hairy Moore classic – is apparently unworthy of an Absolute but it gets a nice deluxe hardcover edition instead. This week we see the first of three volumes (again, the first dozen issues) illustrated by Chris Sprouse and a wealth of other people you like – Jerry Ordway, Dave Gibbons, et al.
That’s it for big Absolutes so be still your (accountant’s) heart! We’ve got lots of strange things in from Fantagraphics this week including West Coast Blues, a graphic novel adaptation by Jaques Tardi of the book by French master crime novelist Jean-Patrick Manchette. It’s one of those about a normal guy (in this case and aimless, young executive) who gets dragged into a world of violent crime after witnessing a murder. Jog the Blog (a blog you should watch) reviews it along with other bits about Cooke’s Hunter to boot. From the 10-page PDF preview it definitely looks like one that’s going to be around for a long time to come. And given that it’s the first in Fantagraphics’ new series of Tardi imports there’s thankfully more where that comes from.
Another offering from Fantagraphics is Love & Rockets New Stories Volume 2 in their new L&R trade-paperback format. There’s a 100-page chunk of new stuff by The Hernandez Brothers including Hypnotwist, Gilbert’s 39-page Lynchian story about a beautiful redhead’s surreal night with shady characters, violence and high heel shoes. There’s another PDF preview for you here and even an early (and very thorough) review with pictures and everything! The brothers Hernandez pop up on our shelves again this Thursday with the third issue of Citizen Rex. They talk about the series here and if it’s only just caught your eye you’ll be happy to know we’ve still got copies of the first two issues.
The big issue #1 of the week is Evan Dorkin and Jill Thompson’s Beasts of Burden – the first of a four-issue miniseries about the heroic gang of cats and dogs introduced in the Dorkin/Thompson Eisner award-winning short story Stray from 2004’s Dark Horse Book of Hauntings. After grim supernatural doings threaten the community of Burden Hill it’s up to the four-legged crowd to sort it out.
“The area is attracting the dead, the damned and the diabolical, and the human inhabitants of the Hill are blind to this as they go about their everyday business commuting to work, watching TV, worrying about money and their kids. The people there are barely aware of their natural environment, let alone the unnatural environment. So it’s fallen to these animals, whose eyes and ears and snouts are more attuned to what’s happening, to counter these malevolent forces and try to get to the heart of the mystery of Burden Hill,” says Dorkin.
It’s all fully painted by Gosh! Favourite Jill Thompson (Magic Trixie) but just because there’s animals in it doesn’t mean it’s cutesy and sweet. It’s horrific but it’s not horror. Uh, here’s what Jill means:
“I'm not an overtly gory person. I subscribe to the old-movie style of violence depiction, which is that nothing that I can create is as disgusting as what you can create in your imagination. Of course, in the first issue, there's a bunch of gore. But if there's something really bad that happens, I'd prefer to show what's leading up to it or the aftermath, not the actual impact.”
You can preview it here.
The huge manga release this week is Pluto Volume 5 by Urasawa and Tezuka and if this review is anything to go by it’s another cracking instalment that you’ll want to get your mitts on ASAFP.
Phillip Marsden is a Liverpool-based small-press comic artist that you’ll probably hear of very soon if you haven’t already. From now until late November there’s a retrospective exhibition of Marsden’s comic work since 2004 which is also partly a launch for his new comic True Stories which collects what you’ll see on the walls at the Riverside Gallery plus a bunch of new stuff too. All details are over at his website and there are even some attractive postcards on the counter here at Gosh!
And last of all, don’t forget about our Joe Sacco signing on Wednesday 30th of September! We’ve got three more signing announcements to make (properly) so keep an eye on the Gosh! Blog.

The Gosh! Authority 09/09/09
We’ve just received this week’s delivery of goodies and I can tell you it’s definitely an art-book week. The Art of Tony Millionaire is 200 long overdue and beautiful pages of unseen illustrations, comics, stories, photographs and anecdotes from the multiple Eisner/Harvey/Ignatz Award-winning creator of Maakies all topped off with an introduction by Elvis Costello. It promises to be a drunken fever dream of dollies, apes, and exotic mysteries (no doubt hilarious) but there’s also some of his realistic artwork too: Portraits, ginger cats, etc. Expert in many fields John Hodgman reckons he’s the closest thing we’ve got to George Herriman. You will want this.
James Jean’s (Fables covers) stuff always flies off the shelf here at Gosh! so his two latest things won’t need much (if any) pushing from us lot. The Kindling Portfolio is a collection oversized prints of new paintings housed in a lovely-looking portfolio. You can leave them all in there or take them out and frame them.
The other is Process Recess Volume 3 which collects sketchbook drawings by Jean in a classy hardcover. There’s a lot of figure drawings like these ones here, and you can see dozens more in the PDF preview.
The other blogworthy art book is Junko Mizuno’s Flare, a hardcover collection of her weird and wonderful paintings. Mizuno signed here at Gosh! some time ago so you’re probably already well aware of how highly regarded she ‘round these parts.
In other, more comic-y news, The Collected Hook Jaw is something ultra-violent that you might like. The 1970s UK-based Action comic (a forerunner to 2000AD) was eventually banned for its graphic violence – a lot of which was down to an attempt to cash in on the success of Jaws with their own man-eating great white shark. This is the very first collection of Pat Mills (Charley’s War, 2000AD) and Ramon Sola’s (2000AD) blood ‘n guts strip, which includes two of the infamous pre-ban tales which led the Evening Standard, the Sun and the BBC to launch prohibition campaigns. We’ve had it before but it hasn’t been around for a while, so get in and grab a copy today!
The last trade-paperback of the ill-fated Captain Britain and the MI:13: Vampire Nation hits the shelves this Thursday and it has Dracula in it. This trade collects the last 5 issues of the (now canned) series by Paul Cornell (of Doctor Who). Here’s a review of #10, the first in the book.
Another trade worth a look is James Robinson’s Complete WildC.A.T.S. Robinson (Starman), considered by many to be one of the best modern comics writers, took over WildStorm’s flagship superhero team after Alan Moore left and all his 1990s issues are collected here.
This week sees the beginning of the highly anticipated Dark Reign: The List series in which the post-Utopia Norman Osborn makes a list of everything that’s wrong with the world – namely, every major name in the Marvel Universe. There’s a List checklist here for everything you can expect in the not too distant future and first up is Dark Reign: The List: Avengers by Bendis (Dark Avengers) which you can stick in your bag this Thursday. Preview!
Locke & Key #1 has been reprinted as a beefed-up special edition. It now includes the original script and an 8-page back-up story by Seth Fisher in a very rare appearance having died three years ago.
Grimwood’s Daughter is a hardcover collecting some great old Kevin Nowlan (Batman Confidential) stuff. “Grimwood's Daughter wasn't my first work in comics but I think it was the first thing I did that was really worth buying. It ran as a back up feature in Dalgoda during the early 80's. The script was terrific. It was dark and sad and fit my twenty-something attitude better than any of the super-hero stuff I was being offered.” There’s more of that here, where he also tells you all about the new bonus bits.
A lastly, there’s a couple of things from last week that deserve a shout: Solomon Grundy #7 (of #7) is a Blackest Night crossover you might have missed, and Andrew is astounded by how many copies of Starr the Slayer #1 (of 4) we’ve still got because he thought it was brilliant.

The Gosh! Authority 03/09/09
Forget comics – the biggest news this week is our Joe Sacco signing! No, it’s not happening this week; it’s at the end of the month. But look! – I made a blog post about it yesterday. So now you can write it in your diaries, perhaps re-read his brilliant books, and try to think of something to say when you get to the front of the line that won’t make you look like a wally. We musn’t forget to doff our hats to Jonathan Cape and ComICA for their help in bringing him over. There’s more to come signing-wise so watch this space.
My pick of this week’s swag is Strange Tales #1 (of 3) because of the gobsmacking list of creators. It’s a three-issue anthology showcasing classic Marvel characters re-imagined by indie hotshots such as Paul Pope (Heavy Liquid), Pete Bagge (whose Incorrigible Hulk is finally seeing print in this very comic!), Nicholas Bertozzi, Molly Crabapple, Nicholas Gurewitch (Perry Bible Fellowship), James Kochalka (American Elf), Michael Kupperman (Tales Designed to Thrizzle), John Leavitt, Junko Mizuno (Cinderalla), Johnny Ryan (Angry Youth Comix), Jason (Hey, Wait...), and Dash Shaw (Bottomless Belly Button). The ever brilliant Kupperman says:
“People are going to be very interested in the changes I've made to the Marvel canon. They're probably going to have to scrap everything they've ever published and start over. The new version of SECRET WARS is going to be called OVERT WARS.” More of that nonsense and fruit pies here, and an early review over here. Incidentally, follow this man on Twitter. He’s hilarious.
More re-doings of classic Marvel stuff can be found in Mystic Comics #1 70th Anniversary Special, this time by David Lapham (Stray Bullets, Young Liars). He’s taking on Golden Age Vision in a 22-page original story which you can see bits of here.
Another exciting #1 is Jeff Lemire’s bizarre Sweet Tooth. He’s the bloke responsible for the very excellent Essex County Trilogy (the collected edition you might have noticed appear on our shelves a fortnight ago) and his other fairly recent release, The Nobody. This new Vertigo series is about a boy born with deer-like antlers, one of a rare new breed of human/animal hybrids somehow naturally immune to the infection that devastated the world a decade earlier. Lemire says it’s “something like The Island of Dr. Moreau meets Mad Max with a sprinkle of Tim Truman's Scout thrown in for good measure.” More of that interview here and another one here. If that’s not enough to tickle your fancy then how about the price? At 75p it’s practically free.
The first issue of Daniel Way (Wolverine Origins) and Richard Corben’s (Heavy Metal) four-part series Starr the Slayer hits our new release shelf this Friday (that’s right, blame the Bank Holiday). You last saw Starr in Warren Ellis’ newuniversal but he originally began like this:
“Legend has it that Starr the Slayer came about because Barry Windsor-Smith desperately wanted to do Conan, and at that point Marvel was already publishing a Conan book. So as kind of a tryout, he did this story story called Starr the Slayer which featured a Conan-type character, but the twist was that Starr was the creation of a pulp writer named Len Carson and at the end of the story he actually came to life and killed Carson. So it tied itself off quite neatly and it was a good story. It looked incredible.” Loads more of that in an interview with Way and Corben at CbR.
That’s it for noteworthy issue #1s but if you liked Jimmy Palmiotti and Justin Gray’s Last Resort #1 as much as we did you’ll be happy to see #2 out this week. It’s got another cracking Darwyn Cooke cover (speaking of which, have a look at these Cooke covers for Jonah Hex) and promises excessive violence, fiery death, rampaging zombies and a boat of topless women. Here’s an interview with Palmiotti and a review of the first issue if you missed it.
The final issue of Ed Brubaker and Sean Phillips’ Incognito is out this week, bringing to a close one of the most twisted super-villain tales in recent memory. I tried to find you a preview but there ain’t one. You’ll just have to wait and see.
Richard Sala (Delphine) has a new stand-alone graphic novel out through First Second: Cat Burglar Black, about a girl who isn’t as retired from cat burglary as she thinks. Sala tells the story behind the book (which Dan Clowes calls a deranged masterpiece) and his midnight wanderings over at the :01 blog. In the words Newsarama’s J. Caleb Mozzocco, “it’s Richard Sala, so if it’s not totally awesome, I will be completely shocked.” Also at Newsarama is an interview with Sala himself.
Only one trade paperback was deemed blog-worthy this week: Brian Wood’s DMZ Volume 7 War Powers which sees Matty Roth (fresh off the boat from Staten Island) track down the source of the DMZ’s greatest urban legends. Here’s a review of the first issue in the book.
Another collection well worth your time is Nocturnals Volume 2: Dark Forever by Dan Brereton. Among other bits and bobs it collects The Dark Forever and Gunwitch: Outskirts of Doom (art by Ted Naifeh of Courtney Crumrin) which are two complete stories so this collection’s good for newbies and old fans alike. Preview here.
In manga we’ve got Summit of the Gods Volume 1 (of 5) which The Beat calls a must-read and A Distant Neighbourhood Volume 1, both by the award-winning Jiro Taniguchi. The latter is reviewed here and there.
Just before I sign off I’ll steer you in the direction of Alex Fitch’s Panel Borders. When Jill Thompson signed here last Autumn Alex interviewed her in the Gosh! office. It was originally broadcast in November of last year but the belated podcast has finally made its way onto the web and you can now hear her talking about Wonder Woman, Sandman, Scary Godmother, Magic Trixie and much, much more.
And that’s your lot.

Joe Sacco Signing at Gosh! Wednesday 30th September
The internationally famous Eisner-award winning writer/artist and all-round Gosh! Favourite Joe Sacco is the first off the block in our string of Autumn signings!
Disillusioned with his journalistic career, unable to find a job writing the hard-hitting, informative stories he wanted to write, Sacco gave it all up for the editorial freedom of comics. Over the past 20 years he has created some of the best reportage graphic novels of our time. The award-winning Palestine is probably his best known, followed by Safe Area Goražde, The Fixer, and War’s End.
This is a rare opportunity to get your Joe Sacco graphic novels signed by the man himself so don’t miss it! You'll find him in our cosy Gosh! basement on Wednesday the 30th of September from 5 to 7pm.
We’ll see the release of Footnotes in Gaza, his most ambitious work to date, in early December. Rumour has it that we’ll even have an exclusive Gosh! Bookplate Edition. Watch this space!
