New, and semi-exclusive to GOSH! (in the UK at least) come these super-deluxe signed sketchbooks from some of the finest talents in animation and illustration.
First up are ‘Belle Du Jour’ and ‘Bookplate Betties’ by storyboard artist Bill Presing.
A graduate of Joe Kubert’s prestigious cartoonist school, Bill worked on such TV shows as ‘Venture Bros’ while developing his own ‘Rex Steele: Nazi Smasher’ character along the way. More recently Bill worked on the phenomenal Pixar picture ‘Ratatouille’ and is currently hard at work on the upcoming ‘Up’, due in 2009.
With his winsome watercolours you are sure to be charmed by Bill’s colourful and curvaceous cuties.
Next we have the the anglophiliacally entitled 'Fleet Street Scandal' by the ferociously talented animation designers Chris Turnham and Kevin Dart.
This prodigiously packaged collection showcases the prints and illustrations these fine folks create in their off hours; inspired by pulp paperback covers and movie posters of the 50s and 60s with an added twist of Tadahiro Uesugi in the case of Mr Turnham.
Chris is currently ensconced at Laika working on Henry Selick’s stop-motion adaptation of Neil Gaiman’s novel ‘Coraline’.
You will no doubt be most familiar with Kevin Dart’s work through his involvement with the recent ‘Monkey’ adverts directed by Jamie Hewlett for the BBC’s coverage of the Beijing Olympics.
Kevin supplied both the colour script for the ads and also painted all the background plates.
